The developers of The Bearded Ladies have released a brand new game Miasma Chronicles trailer, showing off the plot of the game, as well as more than a few review highlights.
Miasma Chronicles is a bold if flawed entry into the arena of strategy games, offering an interesting new environment in which to play turn-based battles. As part of the PC Gaming Show at E3 2023, this gritty post-apocalyptic foray was graced with another trailer, this time showing off story nuggets, combat snippets, and some of the praise the game received when it launched last month.
Though Miasma Chronicles may not be one of Very the best PC strategy games for some, there’s a lot to love for others, especially when it comes to the game’s well-polished and immersive setting. The art design is particularly pleasing, offering a well-textured and visually appealing post-apocalypse that puts unwashed grays and browns Fallout New Vegas AND Fallout 4 be ashamed.
Though imperfect, titles such as Miasma Chronicles they have “Future Cult Classic” written on them. With this latest accolade and the in-game action trailer, it’s not hard to see why.
For context and as a reminder for those unfamiliar, Miasma itself is eerie and alien, reminiscent of supernatural events in Control AND Victim. This contrasts beautifully with its surroundings: the ruins of once-rustic Kentucky, giving the game a distinctive feel that easily distinguishes it from its more sterile cousin: XCOM.
Despite Miasma Chronicles‘ bugs and occasional jokes, it’s easy to see how the title garnered so much praise. The title offers real novelty, offering deep characterization and meaningful interaction between the game’s cast – often a rarity in the world of strategy games. And especially from the fans’ perspective, it’s great to see it coming to another gaming show this summer, even after its original release.
Miasma Chronicles is not the only story-driven title to feature turn-based combat in recent times. With a shared RPG heritage, both of them Baldur’s Gate 3 AND Warhammer 40,000 Dishonest Trader they embraced turn-based combat without the expense of storytelling.
Titles like Miasma Chronicles signify a move towards more grounded, relatable narratives where memorable characters go hand in hand with satisfying encounters. Although far from perfect Miasma Chronicles is emblematic of a promising trend in video games and is worth a watch for fans of the genre or post-apocalyptic adventures in general.
Miasma Chronicles is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
